Clergy's Tisch with Efraim Wichmann: My Small Steps Toward Being the Change I’d Like to See in the World

When
Friday, November 13 · 6:15 pm

How does a life journey lead to a commitment to helping the most vulnerable members of our community? In this Tisch, Efraim Wichmann will share stories from his life—his upbringing in Germany and his connections to Israel; meeting a nice Jewish girl from Philadelphia; finding his way to Judaism; building a career as a designer. Along the way he will reflect on the experiences that led him to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children and youth in foster care. Efraim will introduce us to a CASA’s work, explain what becoming an advocate entails, and share a few meaningful moments from his experience supporting foster youth. His story is a reminder that making a difference doesn’t always require grand gestures. Sometimes it begins with small, personal steps toward creating the kind of world we want to see. Please note our new format. Timing is approximate. 6:15 PM – Shabbat Blessings 6:25 PM – Community Oneg 6:45 PM – Good News and Mi Shebeirach 6:50 PM – Presentation 7:30 PM – Kaddish and Conclusion Our new Clergy's Tisch format does not include a catered meal. Instead we invite you to bring a bottle of wine or a dessert to share as we gather for a community oneg before the presentation. Advance registration is necessary to help us plan for parking, shuttles, and refreshments. $10 per person. Available in person or online via Zoom or live stream.
